2 Day hikes Colombia in the Barichara area
Beautiful day trips can be organized upon request. We have worked out two of these gems, but there are many more possibilities.

Beautiful day trips can be organized upon request. We have worked out two of these gems, but there are many more possibilities.
The hike starts at the “piedra de Bolivar” (at the edge of the village) and is only recommended for people with a good basic condition! This is because it is a tough hike of 7 to 8 hours.
We start at 8 a.m. and recommend bringing enough water and food to get through the morning.
We hike about 4 hours through beautiful scenery toward the village of Cabrera and arrive there around noon for lunch.
After lunch and some rest, a climb of about 1 hour follows. Then alternate some more climbing and descending until Barichara. Most of the walk is on a stone-paved path “camino real. It’s one of the most beautiful hikes around Barichara.
A MUST DO !
Bring plenty of water and food !
During the walk, there is no opportunity to buy anything.
Sun milk with a high protection factor and a hat or cap.
Good hiking boots are essential for this hike.

The hike starts at the finca and runs for a portion along the old Camino Real toward Jordan. It is a brisk walk, the first 7 kilometers of which are uphill. Then we leave the Camino Real and descend along a smaller path to Barichara.
We start the trek between 8 and 9 a.m. because there is little shade during the first part. We take enough food and drinks with us because during the trek there is no possibility to buy anything. We will have lunch on the way at a beautiful picnic spot in nature.
It is a beautiful walk through agricultural land that starts in the vereda Lubigara and turns into the vereda El Caucho (characterized by the red earth).
With any luck, at the highest point we will have a view of the metropolis of Bucaramanga and the foothills of the Chicamocha cañon. The only people we meet along the way are the campesinos!
Upon arrival in Barichara, we allow ourselves a rest and there is the option of returning by mototaxi. The go-getters can reach the finca via Alto de Viento in descending order.
Bring plenty of food and drink
Protection from the heat of the sun
Good walking shoes
The full hike takes a minimum of 6 hours.
