10 day trip – departments of Boyaca and Santander – pueblos patrimonio
A wonderful journey from Bogotá via Villa de Leyva and impressive off-the-beaten-path destinations to Barichara and Bucaramanga.
Day 1 and 2: from Bogotá to Villa de Leyva
From Bogota you will be taken by Private Transport to Villa de Leyva. Villa de Leyva (2 nights in Casa Terra) is a beautiful authentic town.
It belongs to the so-called “pueblos patrimonio” (national heritage) of Colombia.
Johan will take you to some of the sights outside the village. Such as rock paintings, the fossil museum and Paso del Angel.
Day 3 and 4: To finca Macúa
After a 2 to 3 hour drive, the next place to stay is near Veléz. Where we stay 2 nights at the beautiful finca Macúa. A Finca where coffee, pitaya and bananas are grown, among other things.
Since 2017, a building has been added for tourism, with a number of rooms giving views of the surroundings. Waking up in the morning with a view of the mountains. Makes you lack the desire to get up and want to continue enjoying the beautiful nature.
The views and in the process the tranquility this place exudes is fantastic. You go from a relatively temperate climate to pleasantly warm. The lovers can enjoy the sauna. On our last visit, we were pleasantly surprised to be able to enter the sauna.
On the large grounds of the Finca, there are also a number of designated walks. Something for everyone.
During this stay we planned a visit to Bosque de Pandora a drive of 1hr45 there and 1hr45 back. In Bosque de Pandora it is a very different climate. Fresh, rather cold, with rock massifs surrounded by a layer of fog or sky blue sky. Always a surprise there and especially beautiful nature. You will enjoy a beautiful walk over rocks in caves here….
Day 5: To Guadalupe
Departure (travel time 3 hours) to Guadalupe (accommodation in cabañas La Colina de los azulejos) to visit “Las Gachas”. A unique natural phenomenon the river is one big rock platform where numerous natural water sources were formed, in which you can bathe. Probably we will go to a location in the village Hotel ‘Casa Santo Domingo’. Is a little less remote than La Colina de los Azulejos. Both are good !
The rock formation is slippery, therefore you have to walk on Las Gachas with socks ! Otherwise it will be sliding and more sliding.
Alternative walk from Las Gachas to the village of Guadalupe, goes along a newly constructed footpath and takes a maximum of 1 hour.
Day 6, 7 and 8: Barichara and Finca San Vicente
Departure (travel time 2 hours) to Barichara. Via Instagram you will get a good picture of what our Finca looks like now.
During your stay in Barichara, we also provide an excursion. You will discover the most beautiful village in Colombia Barichara.
Day 9 and 10 : Los Santos and the Chicamocha canyon
Depart towards Los Santos to Hacienda el Roble (3 to 4 hours drive). Along the way, a stop can be scheduled for a paragliding flight over Chicamocha Canyon (See also our Instagram page). The paragliding flight goes over one of the largest and deepest Canyons in the world.
We opted for the coffee finca El Roble. It is a beautiful authentic Hacienda over 300ha in size and established in 1872. The Hacienda occupies an important place, nationally and internationally, for production of the ecological coffee.
You will enjoy a Coffee Tour and a walk in the Hacienda at this place. NOTE the Hacienda El Roble also has 1 additional meal / per day / per person outside the coffee tour.
Day 11 : To the airport
Transportation to Palonegro Airport in Bucaramanga (2-hour drive).
